The Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association (CHTA) is a federation of 33 national hotel associations founded in 1962 as the voice of the Caribbean hospitality industry to serve members in the development of the region in the highly competitive and sophisticated environment of international tourism – a pivotal industry for the region’s economy. CHTA functions as the common denominator for the tourism industry in a region of diverse nationalities, languages and styles, identifying mutual problems and marshalling the resources of the active and allied members to devise solutions.
CHTA represents all facets of the hospitality industry with more than 800 member hotels and 750 allied members. The organization has created countless programs aimed at increasing the viability and sustainability of Caribbean tourism, from the Caribbean Hotel & Tourism Association Education Foundation (CHTAEF) to the Caribbean Alliance for Sustainable Tourism (CAST) and Caribbean Tourism Development Company (CTDC). CHTA also hosts conferences and events throughout the year including Caribbean Marketplace, where hoteliers and tourist offices meet with tour operators, meeting planners and others to plan promotion of Caribbean products, and the Caribbean Hotel and Tourism Investment Conference, which brings together individuals and companies looking to develop tourism related projects and facilities in the Caribbean. http://www.caribbeanhotelassociation.com
